Our parents always did the best they could...
...even though it may not seem that way. If you are a parent yourself you will know this to be true. There is never a situation in which any parent does not act in what they believe to be the best interests of their offspring.
True, looking back, every parent wishes they had done things differently in some respects, but at the time, given their awareness, knowledge and resources, they will have made what they considered to be the best choices for those in their charge.
